The strawberry mead is delicious. It paired perfectly with the soup I made.

Is it ridiculous of me that I'm looking forward to the day I can cook for you?

[ooc: Things get adult-contenty downthread. La la la . . .]

I'm glad you like it. Have you tried the ale yet? It's one of my favorites.

And it's not ridiculous. I'm actually looking forward to that day too.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Not yet--saving that for when I can enjoy it properly.

Good. I won't feel ridiculous about it at all.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Good call. It's very nice for just relaxing outside somewhere. Preferably by the water.

Don't. If you do, then I'll have to, and then we'll both be feeling ridiculous, and nobody wants that.

So...how was your day?

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
It is picnic season . . . out by the Taff would be lovely.

It was good. Domestic and puttery. I thought about you a lot.

How was yours?

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I like to sit out on my balcony with a bottle when I get the chance.

Puttery? Is that a word?

It was...relaxing. I was supervising some hand-to-hand training for new recruits and civilians, which is always amusing.

And I thought about you a lot too.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds lovely. I have a good view of the ocean but no balcony . . . I can open the window to catch the scent, though.

Yes, it is. It's the adjective form of "to putter."

That sounds . . . not relaxing at all, but if you enjoyed it I won't quibble.

. . . what did you think?

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I could share my balcony with you.

If you say so. You are the word expert here.

I wasn't actually participating in the training. Not much anyway. Just supervising.

All sorts of things that were inappropriate while I was working. Mostly what it would be like to come back to my quarters and find you naked in my bed.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
So do I. I have no idea what your view is but it would hardly matter, would it.

*laughs* Perhaps not being a native speaker lets me play around with the language more. Martha said the other day I use words most people don't--I suppose I do.

Ah,t hat sounds much more relaxing than doing the actual training.

. . . oh my. It would be very nice indeed. What kind of fabric are your sheets?

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
I don't suppose it would. For the record though, it's a beautiful view.

You're not a native speaker? Was Welsh your first language?

My sheets are...not the most comfortable. The Air Force wasn't really looking to accomodate naked activities when they assigned linens. I'm pretty sure they're cotton. The blankes though, they're very soft. Something like cashmere, but not quite. You'd look gorgeous on top of them.

What were you thinking?

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Mountains-beautiful, ocean-beautiful, forest-beautiful or other-beautiful?

I am not a native speaker. I didn't know more than a few words of English until I started school. Haven't I told you this before? I know I've told a few people . . .

Oh, god, cashmere. Decadent.

Oh, nonsense, mostly. Like while I was at the shop and I kept picking up produce and thinking "I should make such-and-such for Lorne" . . . though the whipped cream did get more than a passing glance from me.

I like your idea a lot, though.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ocean-beautiful and other-beautiful.

I don't think I knew that. So unless you told me, and I forgot, which is highly improbable, you haven't told me before.

Something I picked up on a mission. They're...quite nice.

And what, exactly were you thinking of doing with the whipped cream?

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. I don't think I could live far from the ocean again. I'd miss it.

Ah, I thought I had. So, yes, my first language is Welsh, and I didn't learn much English until primary school.

Your blankets sound very nice indeed. I'd love for you to discover me on them someday.

I was thinking of applying it to various parts of your body and licking it off. Not terribly original, I realise . . .

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
It gets in your blood, I think. I missed it when I was back home.

Huh. I've never been very good with languages. I took German in high school, but I don't remember much. And I've picked up a little Latin in recent years.

Maybe someday I will.

The classic ideas are always the best.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
It does, it does. It rocks you in its arms and whispers your name.

I like languages. I know a little Japanese, too, though I read and write it better than I speak it.

I'd love to bring that about, you know.

Well, then. Another item to add to our Things To Do list.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I seriously contemplated getting one of those "ocean sounds" CDs to help me sleep for a while.

I've started picking up a tiny bit of Japanese from one of our physicists. I've picked up a tiny bit of several other languages as well, though most of it is not fit for polite company.

I wish you could.

Yes, make sure you're well stocked with whipped cream. Chocolate sauce is another good one, though it's a bit messier.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
They're not bad, those CDs. I used one for a while in London, to drown out the noise of the city.

*laughs* It's always the swear words first.

I must admit to doing a few Google searches now and again to see what I could find. Should I look into it in earnest?

Check. Whipped cream and chocolate sauce, and various kinds of fruits.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
English is the official language of the expedition, so most people only revert to their native tongues when they're frustrated or they don't want their supervisors to understand them. Hence swearing.

For cashmere blankets? It might be nice, but it's definitely not necessary. I'd offer to bring mine, but my bed is tiny, so I doubt they'd be much good on yours.

I like the way you think.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
No, not searching for blankets--for you. For your expedition.

*smiles* I should hope so, at this point.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
You did a Google search for the expedition? I don't think that's going to be much help, really. God, I'd love to have you here, but...I'm not sure how much good it would do.

Fuck, though, after last night, I almost think it might be worth the sneaking around we'd have to do. But I don't want you to get into trouble. You wouldn't be able to get out here anyway, even if you did find me.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
You and various names you've mentioned. I can make computers do a lot of things.

I wouldn't get into trouble. There are civilians at your base, aren't there? From many other countries? I'd just get myself assigned there somehow and we'd . . . meet. Finally.

I'm sure there's some position I could fill, some use I could be. I've worked as an archivist and researcher since graduation, that has to be worth something.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure that between the two of us, we'd have no trouble getting you assigned out here. Zelenka would probably take you on in a second. But it's not a temporary assignment. Civilian recruits are required to sign a one-year blind commitment before being told where they'd be going.

I'm not saying I haven't considered it, but as I said before, it's a very big commitment to make for someone you've never met.

Let's work on getting me to Cardiff first, shall we? And once we see how that goes, maybe we can revisit this idea.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
I know.

I just--I just want you so badly. I keep telling myself I nave to be mature and patient and I don't know if I can do it.

I'm sorry. Usually I'm the calm one.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay. I understand. I want you too. Sometimes I try to figure out how I could get you out here, and how we could be together if you were here.

And then I tell myself that I really need to slow down and think about things a bit more.

But it's really hard some days.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Taking it slow. I know it's the right thing to do, and god knows I've never really rushed into a relationship this way, but yeah. It's hard.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I think part of that is to do with this whole relationship being online. There was a real sense of anonymity to begin with, so we were probably more open with each other than we would have been in person. And that creates a bond.

And we were friends first, which makes things go a little faster as well.

I'm not usually one for rushing into relationships either. I mean, how long have we been...whatever we are? A few weeks?
