Got a strange phone call last night from my youngest brother Macsen. The wedding invitation found him (miracle #1) and he thinks he'll be able to come (miracle #2) without any financial help from me (miracle #3). (Yes, I did offer. Macsen's idea of a savings account is having more than five euro left over after a pub crawl.) The strange part was, though, that he didn't sound particularly happy about any of it, though he wouldn't actually say anything about it. Nothing's wrong, he says. Congratulations, he says.

I keep telling myself it's nothing, but the problem is I know Macsen well enough to know when all's not well, and I know all's not well. But all he'll say is don't worry, everything's fine, see you in October.

I called Euan after Macsen rang off and asked if they'd talked recently, and he said aside from a birthday card for Rhodri (miracle #4--Macsen never remembers birthdays), no, he hasn't.

I don't know what to think about all this.

And I need to figure out a birthday present for a one-year-old. Party this weekend. The idea of watching Lorne play with my nephew is adorable beyond words, so I'm trying to focus on that.

How are the plans going, by the way?

Preoccupied with what? He's a beach bum who occasionally bartends and sleeps with tourists. I could understand it more if he didn't have money but he says no, he's fine.

The plans are good. I think we have everything pretty much decided if not bought or arranged.

Oh sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have such a life as that. I'm sure it would drive me nuts quickly, but there would be a few very nice, restful days.

In any case, my thoughts are with you guys. *hug*

Be wary, my friend. I have no blood relatives of my own to speak of, but when Goku and Gojyo make this abrupt of a change, it's usually because they either want something big, or that they've fucked up royally.

If it were anyone else in the world I don't think I'd worry, but it's my baby brother, and he's so very bad at taking care of himself.

He's in Crete. He's been living in Greece for a few years now, following the tourists.

Hn. I know there are Greco-Buddhist ruins that attract a fair amount of tourists. If you'd like, I could contact one of the missionaries at one of the sites to have them keep an eye out? Perhaps pass a message to him should they see him?

If I though he went near a temple at all, possibly, but I doubt that would help.

I mean in a generalized sense. He goes to tourist towns where he can surf or whatever and bartends when he needs money. Or at least he used to. Maybe he's got a different plan now.
