I think I'm ready to talk about it now.

That little boy is alone in the world now. Sure, we can put him into the system and social services will find him a home . . . but I can't help thinking if I'd just been faster, if I'd just caught the ringmaster sooner, if I'd done something different, the rest of his family would have survived.

What you did do is save that little boy's life. He wouldn't be alive at all if not for you. Everything that he accomplishes in his life from now on is because you saved him.

I don't know if that necessary makes me feel better.
