Ianto and Nikola, post vampire-prom

Ianto's staff room is slowly taking on the appearance of an actual home. He's brought over some favorite books and clothes and pictures, and his diary is on the desk.

He turns on the lights for Nikola and shuts the door. "I come here to sleep a lot. Best perk of the job, really."

Ianto smiles tightly and says, "No. I don't think Jack cares what I do."

"That's not what I asked, though, is it?" Nikola lays back, smirking a bit at Ianto.

"If Jack doesn't care who else I sleep with, it's not complicated. It's quite simple. I can sleep with anyone I want."

"Not if you care who else you sleep with..."

Nikola shakes his head. "Never mind. You don't want to talk about it, and to be frank, I don't want to hear about it."

"The less we talk about feelings, the better. They just get me into trouble."

He nods and settles back in next to Ianto. "Me too, really."

Ianto nods, more than willing to let the subject drop.

"Can you tell me about whatever you're working on now?"

Nikola chuckles. "I'm...between projects at the moment." His hand slides down over his stomach without him thinking about it. Though the wound on his stomach did eventually heal, it left a scar, something Nikola is not familiar with. "My last one crashed and burned rather spectacularly..."

"What was it?" Ianto leans his head on his hand.

"I was attempting to bring back the vampires."

Ianto blinks a few times. "I assume it didn't go like how it does in books."

Nikola rolls his eyes. "With the mutual blood drinking? No."

Ianto wrinkles his nose.

"So what did you do?"

[ps_you_look_hot]

"It's a long and very complicated process."

[likesthecoat]

... surely Nikola understands that he's here because Ianto finds him interesting, right?

"Long and complicated, like ..."

[ps_you_look_hot]

He takes that for granted. He just generally assumes people aren't intelligent enough to understand his work.

"Like a process involving the recoding of certain strands of DNA to develop and activate vampiric traits."

"Gene therapy, like?"

Pssht. It's Ianto.

"That's... a very simplified way of putting it."

"So expound."

[ps_you_look_hot]

Nikola rolls his eyes and launches into an extremely detailed description of his work. He'll go on for several minutes unless Ianto stops him.

Ianto doesn't stop him. He does stroke Nikola's chest occasionally.

When he finishes, Nikola gives Ianto a look like he expects Ianto to be totally lost.

"You're very clever," Ianto says with approval and kisses Nikola's forehead.

Nikola rolls his eyes again. "I am so much more than clever."

"Clever and brilliant."
