We couldn't help him. That's the worst part. We've never had to help anyone like this and we failed with him.
Lorne, Jack was--fuck. I have this terrible suspicion and I don't know what to do with it. Jack was with him, Jack stayed with him, and I think Jack wanted to go with him, too. Fucking hell. I want to just scream at him and I don't want to ask.
Okay. Well, I had a mission yesterday, so today was pretty laid back. I went for a run this morning down by the water. And then I caught up on some paperwork and filed my mission report. Cadman had me show her some hand to hand moves she was having trouble with.
And I just got back from dinner. It's still light out, but the sun is starting to set over the city.
Dinner was chicken(ish) parmesan with not-quite-garlic bread and Athosian spice cake for dessert.
And the mission was fairly routine. One of our allies was having trouble with their generators, so I took Zelenka and another engineer and a couple marines to see if we could help at all.
It's very good. They make them in individual servings and put this purple frosting on them. Teyla says they're traditional, but I've only ever seen people make them with food coloring, so I don't know how authentic they are. Lots of nuts though, and something that's like cinnamon and cloves together.
It's not terrible at all. Any more, I'm glad when it's boring too.
Completely random, I read once that what we cause mauve is what the ancients called purple. And I love Homer's "wine-colored sea." I think it's Homer, anyway, I can't recall at the moment.
I don't think I've ever seen a wine-colored sea. But that's a really evocative image. I don't remember much from Homer besides "rosy-fingered dawn" and "the man of twists and turns".
Having taken a quick spin via Google, apparently it's from the Odyssey, and Patrick O'Brien used it as a title for one of his Master & Commander novels.
That was a mnemonic device device, those epitaphs. God, can you imagine memorizing epics? I feel proud when I can remember every stanza to Jabberwocky.
Russell Crowe is often hot, despite being in the Navy.
Well, there was that one Shakespearian sonnet that stuck for god knows what reason, but mostly, if I want to remember a poem, I have to have a copy of it somewhere.
[ooc: Popping out for a bit. Back in a couple hours.]
My celebrity crushes? Well, Russell Crowe is hot, as we've already established. And I've always had a bit of a thing for Sean Bean. Oh, and Karl Urban, once I saw LOTR.
It's 116.
Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments. Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds Or bends with the remover to remove. Oh, no, it is an ever fixed bark That looks on tempests and is never shaken. It is the star to ev'ry wand'ring bark Whose worth's unknown, although its height be taken. Love's not time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come. Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks But bears it out, even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
The punctuation's probably off, but it is from memory.
They kinda hit the jackpot on attractive people when they were casting that, didn't they? Although, I must admit that I don't find Viggo Mortensen all that good looking. Lucy Liu's a good choice though. Who's Jack Davenport?
Okay, yeah. I can see that. I'd still pick Boromir or Faramir over Aragorn.
Huh...yeah he is kinda hot, isn't he?
I love you too, darling.

I'm all right. I'm worried, and losing John just reminds me of all the other people we've lost, and I miss you so much right now. I want to hold you so badly.

God, darling, there are so many things I could say right now, and none of them are any good, but...this isn't your fault.
Are you worried Jack might try on his own? If you are, you need to talk to him.
no subject
I don't know what I'm saying. Or thinking. Or anything.
no subject
What do you need, babe? I'm here for you. I want to do whatever I can.

But just talk to me. Tell me what you did today. Tell me what the ocean smells like and how many stars are out. Talk to me.

I feel proud when you can remember every stanza to Jabberwocky too. I've never been very good at memorizing poetry.

Not even a Shakespearian sonnet? And Ogden Nash couplet?

Well, there was that one Shakespearian sonnet that stuck for god knows what reason, but mostly, if I want to remember a poem, I have to have a copy of it somewhere.

Which one? I know we've quoted poetry at each other but I can't remember a sonnet at the moment.

Mm. I love that one. I was going to type up one for you but my mind's gone blank. Sorry :(.

That's all right. You don't have to quote me poetry. I'll still love you.

Thank you for being so accepting, my darling.

Jack Davenport plays Norrington in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and he was on a popular sitcom over here called Coupling for a long time.
You're a wonderful boyfriend, sweetheart. I love you so much.

I love you too, darling.

Very hot. And very funny in Coupling, in a very awkward, occasionally spouting off on a rant kind of way.

So no sex tonight. Got it.
How's he doing?

I hope he's resting. I had to be very stern with him earlier.
