Today I bought wedding magazines.

This was a mistake.

You want to know why this was a mistake? Well, I'm going to tell you. BECAUSE THE WEDDING INDUSTRY IS COMPLETELY BRIDE-ORIENTED AND IS NOT HELPING ME AT ALL.

I suppose this is good in its way, because it gives us license to invent our own traditions and make our own decisions, but on the other hand . . . I would really like to do this right.

At this rate you lot will be lucky if you get a cup of water and a slice of cake at the reception, I hope you realize that.

And you're only getting cake because Lorne wants cake.

I think the chocolate one would make Lorne happy.

And outside. We want it outside.

*nods* Obviously, just ideas you know?

I'm sorry. I love to plan and make Lists. Lists about Lists. So, this sort of planning is enjoyable for me.

I know its hardly so for you. *hugs*

Let me know what I can do to help okay love?

You may need a tent then... It is Wales. It may rain.

P.S. Blue orchids:

I think I'd enjoy this more if it felt more natural to me, but it doesn't. I don't mind planning things. I'm actually quite good at it. But this is something else entirely--this isn't work, it isn't taking care of things, it's just . . . a bigger party than I've ever been to and things I've never thought about and there are all these options and I don't know what we want.

[identity profile] hisdarklady.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
*pets* I understand love. Maybe it comes more naturally to women because we're trained to think about our wedding since we're little girls. I don't know.

I just think it would be a lot easier for you if you focused less on the "OMG MY WEDDING" part and more on the "big party with lots of friends"; it seems easier to plan for the second than the first.

Also, how formal were you thinking on going? The whole "wedding reception" with the gauze and bows and ice sculptures or much more of the informal big happy party route?

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Love, it's hard not to think of it as OMG MY WEDDING. It is OMG MY WEDDING.

Though maybe a big informal happy party is the way to go. Throw those magazines away and just do it like us.

[identity profile] hisdarklady.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
I realise it is, but... Okay, I'm going to get up on my soap box here. The idea of the BIG OMG WEDDING is something that is perpetuated through the wedding industry. I'm not trying to say that for those that have to have it, going the nine yards is bad, I just don't think everyone should feel like they have to. It is exactly what I said it is, a party celebrating your union/love/commitment to each other and you can have it any way you want.

I plan on having a moon bounce at mine.

I think you should just do it like you guys. Don't worry about what you think you're supposed to do for a wedding. Do what you want. Whatever that is. If you don't want flowers, don't have them.

*massive hugs*

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
. . . maybe a few flowers.

*hugs*

*laughs* Indeed, maybe a few.

Okay, I had an idea and I don't even know if this ccan be feasibly done and if it can if... it would be a good idea.

But looking up pictures of wedding cakes I saw a few that were made to look like castles... Would it make Lorne too home sick to have one done like Atlantis? And like I said, is it even feasible?

Or is that a rly bad idea?

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Private to Martha]

I think that would be a very bad idea. Too many people will be there who don't know about Atlantis and this should not be their introduction.

I felt of those that didn't know, its not like they would automatically assume its a city in another galaxy.

But I get what you mean. It was just a passing thought.

My family don't know what I do for a living. I don't want them to even think about other galaxies.

*nods* You're right. It is a bit much for family members to think of loved ones doing such dangerous work on a daily basis.

*tight hugs*

I also don't want them to know about aliens.

[identity profile] hisdarklady.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Private to Ianto]
Yeah. Apparently the idea to most people is... frightening. Honestly, not all aliens are bad.

Enough of them are to worry me.
