(no subject)

Lorne's project for today is building a fence for the back garden, so Kai and Matilda can play in a little more safety. So this morning we all went to the home store to buy supplies. (Milena had a great time chasing Kai up and down the aisles. Or Kai had a great time running away from her. One of those.)

Then afterwards we went to a toy store and got Kai this, so he can "help Daddy" without actually being near any power tools. He about spazzed out with joy when we took it out of the box, and he's banging happily away with his hammer right now on the back deck. (Matilda, on the other hand, has hidden herself under the couch. I can see her nose if I look down.)

I think my job today is mostly to keep Lorne well-supplied with lemonade and beer, and possibly also to make sandwiches.

At least it'll be a good ten years before he can reach the latch on the gate.

Maybe not quite ten, but it'll be a good long while, yeah.

She'd love that, I'm sure. I could see if Emma could bring the boys over too. It's about time they met Kai.

Although maybe he should meet Carys and Anwen before then, just so it's not too overwhelming.

We could visit Griffen next weekend, if they're not busy. I know the girls do a lot of summer activities.

That's probably a good idea. We can give Milena the weekend off.

I think she'd like that. It'd give her some time with her lad.

I'll call Griffen tonight.

Sounds good. I'll call my mom and Emma too and see if they'll be able to make it for his birthday.

Brilliant. We'll have to have a big party, then if they're coming all that way. Bouncy castle?

A bouncy castle would be perfect, but will we be able to keep Jack out of it?

Hopefully there'll be little of that. They're all good with children, more than you'd expect.

I know. I think he'll be okay with them, really. He's getting much better around strangers. He was really good in the store today.

He was. Won all those clerks' hearts.
