Because you worry :).

We've had an old colleague return unexpectedly, and it's causing some tension. However, her knowledge in this case may be invaluable, so we're doing our best to work together.

So that's what's up with me. I can't exactly say "all's well," but it certainly could be worse.

I'm perfectly content with turning over all duties of tending to Suzie to Gwen. I'm not certain I could look her in the eye, to be frank.

Me too, having her back is very unsettling.

Not to mention I don't think I've ever seen you so angry.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't you? I think a lot of it is because she was one of us. Somehow that makes what she did even worse.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been lucky that way, I think.

Yes. Someone we trusted and believed and then she betrayed us.

Do you think using the glove would've done the same to the rest of us? If we'd been able to use it.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. If its effects are like an addiction, perhaps; if the glove attuned to some underlying problem, probably not.

If you take two people and put them in the same situation, it's rare for them to react exactly the same way. Some people crumple under what makes other people thrive.

If it was an underlying problem, I can't help but think working for Torchwood may have contributed to it.

I doubt any of us would've behaved exactly like Suzie, but Gwen was showing simalarities to Suzie when she first started using the glove.

You don't really think working here can drive someone mad, do you?

Granted, we've all had our moments, but the work itself isn't--we're not the bad guys.

So, the glove has addictive properties. We'd surmised that already.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, I really hope it doesn't. I do start to wonder sometimes, especially when stuff like this happens.

I know we're not bad, but that doesn't mean we can't go mad. There's only so much we can take.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
You said yourself that it's worth it to protect people. Have you changed your mind about that?

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I haven't.

Seeing it up close just reminds me of how real the possibility of just completly cracking are. Even if I could leave Torchwood I doubt I would.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I think in Suzie's case, though, at least part of the issue is believing oneself to be stronger than one actually is.

And now we know what to look out for.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Knowing what to look out for is somthing, I suppose.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's more than we had before.

I do wonder sometimes how much we're risking with all this tech and not realising it, just because we don't know what the side effects can be.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes it's best not to think about it. It can be hard not to though when you're trying to find out what tech does.

That hits the nail on the head. Is this thing going to turn me into a pile of ash or shower me with gold?

So to speak.
