Because you worry :).

We've had an old colleague return unexpectedly, and it's causing some tension. However, her knowledge in this case may be invaluable, so we're doing our best to work together.

So that's what's up with me. I can't exactly say "all's well," but it certainly could be worse.

I'm perfectly content with turning over all duties of tending to Suzie to Gwen. I'm not certain I could look her in the eye, to be frank.

[ooc: mun is fleeing for chiropractor's and supper. will be back later.]

You and me, both.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the update. I'm trying not to worry, but I think it's genetic.

I take it you didn't part on the best of terms? I know that can be frustrating. But it seems like you think she'll be able to help you work this out, yeah? So that's something anyway.

I was escorting Zelenka on some exploration this morning, and we found something that made me think of you. And I've just realized that I can't tell you any more than that. Sorry. It was definitely a good thing though.

Me too, having her back is very unsettling.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it was a bad time all around. She is helping us, but . . . it's not the best situation. (Think Edward Norton asking Anthony Hopkins for help in Red Dragon. That's the nearest analogy I can think of.)

Was it coffee? ;)

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The part that makes me sad is that I liked her before. I mean, as well as you can like someone you don't really know.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to mention I don't think I've ever seen you so angry.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't you? I think a lot of it is because she was one of us. Somehow that makes what she did even worse.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been lucky that way, I think.

Yes. Someone we trusted and believed and then she betrayed us.

[identity profile] harpermd.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. We -ah - got on well, before the glove came into the picture. I'm beginning to realize I never really knew her either.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps we should have found TIC sooner. It might have prevented . . . something.

Of course, if someone is determined not to share themselves, nothing will force them to.

[identity profile] harpermd.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Case in point.

[identity profile] harpermd.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
What?

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That bad, huh? Just don't get yourself eaten or anything.

Coffee I could tell you about.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think using the glove would've done the same to the rest of us? If we'd been able to use it.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. If its effects are like an addiction, perhaps; if the glove attuned to some underlying problem, probably not.

If you take two people and put them in the same situation, it's rare for them to react exactly the same way. Some people crumple under what makes other people thrive.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
You're illustrating my point. You can't force someone to talk who doesn't want to.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . oh, remind me to tell you about that sometime.

Very true, unless it were a special, classified, top secret sort of coffee.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
If it was an underlying problem, I can't help but think working for Torchwood may have contributed to it.

I doubt any of us would've behaved exactly like Suzie, but Gwen was showing simalarities to Suzie when she first started using the glove.

[identity profile] harpermd.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you want me to say? She scares me shitless? Coz she does. That I'm angry and exhausted and worried that she's somehow gonna manage to kill us all? Coz I'm that, too.

And pot, I'd like you to meet kettle.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want you to say anything you don't want to say.

I'm aware I'm reticent, Owen. Big family. Quiet personality. You do the math.

[identity profile] morethanteaboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't really think working here can drive someone mad, do you?

Granted, we've all had our moments, but the work itself isn't--we're not the bad guys.

So, the glove has addictive properties. We'd surmised that already.

[identity profile] harpermd.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
And I think that's the first personal detail I've had from you.

Look - I'm - gonna go try to get a few minutes sleep.

[identity profile] rockscientist.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
...I'm not sure I want to know...

If it were a special, classified, top secret sort of coffee that was special, classified and top secret because it was amazing, I think I might just toss that NDA out the window and tell you about it anyway.

[identity profile] sato-toshiko.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, I really hope it doesn't. I do start to wonder sometimes, especially when stuff like this happens.

I know we're not bad, but that doesn't mean we can't go mad. There's only so much we can take.
