Today I bought wedding magazines.
This was a mistake.
You want to know why this was a mistake? Well, I'm going to tell you. BECAUSE THE WEDDING INDUSTRY IS COMPLETELY BRIDE-ORIENTED AND IS NOT HELPING ME AT ALL.
I suppose this is good in its way, because it gives us license to invent our own traditions and make our own decisions, but on the other hand . . . I would really like to do this right.
At this rate you lot will be lucky if you get a cup of water and a slice of cake at the reception, I hope you realize that.
And you're only getting cake because Lorne wants cake.

I need a best man.
[ooc: *patpat* Sure thing.]

...I'd say something like 'do you need me to call an agency?' but that's really not what you mean, is it?
no subject
Not at all.
Would you be willing to be my witness at the civil registration ceremony and stand up with me at the handfasting? Possibly also dance with relatives later?

I'd be very willing indeed. And extremely flattered to be asked, besides. Although I have to wonder if and how you talked Lorne around to the idea.
Do you even need to ask that last question?

There's no one I'd rather have. And I can be very stubborn and persuasive when I want to be.
Well, I had to be sure :). It's a bit involved, being a best man.

Thanks. That means a lot. And apparently so! I'm impressed. In return, I promise to be good.
Goodness, yes. I just hope my day job as defender of the Earth prepares me for the responsibility!

Mostly it's just knowing when to use my pout to its best advantage. And thank you. I know you will be.
It'll be less running around and shooting things and more making sure I have the ring and that I don't get drunk the night before.

Oh, the imagery.
Check and check. You can drink tonic water with me the night before, while the others get hammered. How are you doing stag night, anyway? Just going out together, or keeping things traditionally seperate?
no subject
Oh, god. I need to book a videographer.
Owen suggested two stag nights. I think . . . arranging that is also the best man's job. What do you think?
no subject
Hmm. I suppose two would be ideal, but how many people you know seperately will be in town the night before? Are families coming? See, most TIC-ers are friends of both, so deciding which one they go to might be a problem. Unless you particularly want to be seperate, I'd say screw tradition and have one together.

I like the idea of a family party, actually, rather than an actual stag night. I don't want to go to a strip club, for instance.

*Nods* That's doable - maybe go eat somewhere, first, as well. That generally helps with not getting too out of hand. And if we hire a room or something, we can control the music, if you want to actually talk to people.

Yes, something like that. Supper and just a place for us all to talk and let everyone get to know each other.
