"And your weaknesses?" Martha pulls out the jar of apricot jam and waves it in front of him.

He smiles and rolls his eyes, and mutters, "Yeah, I learned it to make it for Lorne. Hush.

"And at least I'm willing to challenge myself."

Martha smiles indulgently and can't help herself with how cute that really is, "Are you saying I don't like challenges because I don't make my own preserves?"

He throws back his head and laughs. "Was this conversation about you?"

Martha pauses and sulks, properly chastised, "No it wasn't, it was about you and your harem of men."

"And for whom I make apricot jam, because he likes it," he says and takes a baguette out of the basket for the jam. "Because store-bought is nothing like home-made."

Martha smiles at him as she hands over the jam and watches Ianto take care of the baguette. "So back on the subject of your harem," she drawls and begins to pick through the picnic basket.

"Yes?" he says without looking up from slicing. Tricky job, this. Easy to slice a finger.

Martha's teasing tone dropped a bit as she lowered her own head to try and see Ianto's face a bit better, "How are you managing love? Seriously?"

He shrugs and spreads a bit of jam on a slice of baguette.

"The only time I'm not thinking about Lorne and missing him and wanting him is when I'm with Jack, and that's mostly because at those particular times I'm not thinking much at all."

Martha nods, noting the second name but not commenting on it just yet. "He's a necessary distraction, among other things."

"I suppose so." He chuckles dryly. "You missed all my angst about whether I should sleep with him or not earlier this year. I used to write about him a lot. Now that we've actually . . . well, settled things, I suppose, I find I have much less to say. Unless someone wanted to hear my raptures about my lover's cock or something, which would be in pretty bad taste."

Ianto covers his face with his hands and mutters, "Yes."

Martha cackles delightedly, "I suppose its rather nice to play with pretty things. A man with a pretty cock."

"I can't believe I'm telling you this," Ianto says into his hands.

"I can't believe your admitting to it. So what else, how's his arse? Spectacular?"

Ianto sighs and folds his arms behind his head. "Because," he says slowly, "my girlfriend just died earlier this year after a long illness, and even though I know she hasn't really been with me for a long time there's still a lot of guilt about moving on to somebody new."

He stares at the sky a moment. "And because he's my boss."

"Oooh," Martha moves to lay down with Ianto, resting her head on his chest and looking at him. "Oh, Ianto, Ianto, You know how I pry, so just tell me to hush and I will if I pry too far but, what would be wrong with just trying to make a relationship work with him?"

"I'm finding I like having people I can talk to about this. Near and Sam think he's going to break my heart and Lorne gets quiet and hurt when I bring Jack up. I don't want the others at work knowing so they're out, and there really aren't many others I feel that comfortable confiding in."

He takes a deep breath.

"Jack doesn't do relationships. He's . . . got a very unique perspective on the world. I mean, I wouldn't have him any different, but it does make our future look rather limited.

"And now there's Lorne . . . who I just . . . I want him so much I can hardly bear it."
