It's chilly but clear out--though it will rain by nightfall, from the look of the clouds in the distance--and Ianto spreads a blanket on the grass near other picnickers and kneels down to unpack the basket. "Cheese and crackers for starter?"

Martha leaned in to Ianto, resting her head on his shoulders, "I don't know you as well as some, but you strike me as the kind of person that feels rather passionately about people. I guess I just don't see you in an aloof sort of relationship..."

He's fairly certain it's not.

Except when it's two a.m. and all he wants is Jack . . . or he has Jack and feels he doesn't want anything more.

Martha closes her eyes and thinks about Ianto's situation, one that he didn't know he was in until he was neck deep.

"So you don't feel anything for J? Outside the bonds of friendship and lust of course..."

"I feel a great many things for J," Ianto says. "I just try not to think about it much."

"I think you should take both your lovers and move to a castle in the welsh countryside and the three of you spend your days and nights shagging and perhaps growing ...whatever it is that grows out here."

He smiles to himself. "Sheep, mostly.

"Though that does sound like an ideal plan."

"And I will come and visit you boys every so often, bring my own lover with me... though we may stay in the guest house." Martha chuckled softly, thinking about it.

He tweaks her nose. "I warned you I was just out of the shower, didn't I? And you still come barging in for a full view of my very pale bum."

She wrinkles her nose and laughs, "I think I might have been blinded for a few moments there."

"Welsh," he says, pointing to himself. "It's part of the package, like the vowels."

Martha leans back against Ianto, smiling widely. "Pretty vowels, pretty men, pretty pale arse."

He puts both arms around her for a lingering hug. "Odd girl, you."

"And yet, you still love me. So what does that say about you?"

"That I like odd girls." He hugs her tighter and chuckles.

Martha kisses Ianto's cheek and chuckles softly, "Among other things it does."

"That you have impeccable taste for one," Martha smirked at Ianto and stole an orange slice.

"I knew that already," he says airily. "You've seen my flat."

Martha rolls her eyes and pushes Ianto back and pinches his arse, "Cocky bastard, yeah?"

He yelps, laughing, and tries to roll away. "I know my strengths, that's all!"

"And your weaknesses?" Martha pulls out the jar of apricot jam and waves it in front of him.

He smiles and rolls his eyes, and mutters, "Yeah, I learned it to make it for Lorne. Hush.

"And at least I'm willing to challenge myself."

Martha smiles indulgently and can't help herself with how cute that really is, "Are you saying I don't like challenges because I don't make my own preserves?"
