The last few days have been a bit relaxed, generally speaking, so I decided to try a project.
Jam.
I had no idea until I started researching it that there's a sizable initial outlay for equipment, but since it's all reusable I figured the investment was worth it. Homemade jam is a good thing to have around, right?
So, I bought jars, pots, lids, etc., and then the ingredients for a very simple recipe for apricot jam I'd found. And this morning I set about making the jam.
My fingers are now burned, my kitchen smells like burnt sugar, and I suspect I'm never going to be able to get the spilled jam off my stovetop, but.
I HAVE MADE JAM.
I'm going to eat it with some fresh bread from the corner bakery and salad for supper.
